Fresh Abd¥ctions Reported on Omi-Odo Ara Road as Insecurity Worsens in Kogi’s Yagba West

Several persons have reportedly been abd¥cted along the Omi-Odo Ara Road in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, according to local sources.

The incident occurred earlier today, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, though the exact number of victims and their identities have yet to be confirmed. 

Residents said security agencies have been alerted, while people in nearby communities have been advised to exercise extreme caution, restrict unnecessary movement, and promptly report any suspicious activity.

The latest incident comes amid growing insecurity in the area. 

On Monday, SaharaReporters reported that tension had gripped Odo-Ere community in Yagba West following a coordinated att+ck by suspected t+rrorists on Sunday night, during which at least four residents were abd¥cted.

Those k+dnapped were identified as Engr. Shina Ajere, Mr. Kehinde Afolabi, Damilola Ogun, and a woman popularly known as Iya Lara. Witnesses said the assailants, believed to be heavily armed, stormed the community and moved from house to house, f+ring sporadically.

Residents, however, expressed fears that the number of abd¥cted persons may be higher, as the full extent of the att+cks remains unclear. 

According to a local platform, Egbe Mekun, another apartment was also targeted, with visible g¥nsh+t marks and a b¥llet reportedly penetrating the building, although the att@ckers failed to gain entry.

Community members described the att+ck as chaotic and terrifying, with sustained g¥no+re echoing across the area. 

In response, residents have called on security agencies and the Kogi State Government to urgently deploy more personnel and intensify efforts to rescue those abd¥cted.

Yagba West and surrounding communities have witnessed repeated att+cks in recent times, raising concerns over worsening insecurity and the vulnerability of rural settlements in Kogi State.
